In England, there is a girl who has a rare disease. If you look at the picture above, she has wrinkles and lines as a woman who has spent hard time in her life. However, she is only 13 years old. This disease is that subcutaneous fat and the sebaceous glands in the skin are imbalance so skin is getting bumpy. This is called “lipodystrophy”. She is having a hard time in everywhere she goes because of her looking. she isn’t able to get a discount for students and when she goes to theatre, she has to pay adult fee. Also when she walks on the street with wearing student’s uniform, everyone looks at her like weary.
Her mother said that she is so sorry and suffered. Her mother has same disease so she knows that her daughter will be very unhappy about it. Her daughter has more serious that her so medicine doesn’t work for her. All her mother can do is that going to hospital and having surgery which is called skin lifting. Her daughter told reporter that she doesn’t want to say she is only 13 years old, not 40 or 50. I think that is so terrible disease for children and even though a person who has a strong mind, it will be difficult to accept that disease. As reporter interviewed her and her mother, they are so worried about each other but they are happy because they have family, they said. It is good to be positive when people are in rough situation.
